Our day trip to Auschwitz & Birkenau proved to be a sobering experience. Sherri took Irmina, Ben, Luke & Sam. While Sherri had already been there once, it was the first visit for the others. Even Irmina had never been there before now. She had learned much about it in school, read books about it, and seen movies & photographs. However, she commented that seeing it in person was an entirely different experience. Indeed, it puts a terrible pit in one's stomach to think of all that happened there.
